Jewell Towne Vineyards: South Hampton, NH

Britt and I have a long history with Jewell Towne Vineyards. We first went there while we were looking for a place to live in Amesbury, Ma. We had bought a Groupon to get a tasting, a tour, and a couple wine glasses. We still have the glasses. We lived in Amesbury about a year and a half and went to Jewell Towne a few times after that. One time in particular was very special for us as I asked Brittany to spend the rest of her life with me. Surprisingly, she said yes and Jewell Towne Vineyards will always be part of our story. They have always been great to us and allowed us to use their beautiful backdrop for our engagement photos as well.

We had some time up in New Hampshire after a family visit so we decided to go back to Jewell Town and try some of the great wine they produce. We showed up for a tasting and met some great people. We started with white and dessert wines. I started with a 2014 Vignoles and Britt an Orange Moscat. The Vignoles has been one of my favorite white wines from Jewell Towne. The Orange Moscat was sweet but not too sugary with a hint of orange and vanilla. It was balanced, especially for a Moscat.

After that we moved on to Red wines. We started with the Leon Millot, a red with a lighter berry/pomegranate taste and soft finish. We moved onto the Marechal Foch which was a very nice wine. Cherry nose, dark color, medium bodied, fruit forward, and finished off dry. Really great wine and we ended up buying a bottle for home.

After those, we tried a glass of each of their sweet red wines which were great if you like a red with sweet strawberry or raspberry flavors but were not my style. Many sweet red wine lovers will find these wines delicious and great for spring or summer!

I finished off with their port. It was incredible. Incredibly rich, not too hot, full of deep cherry, and finished off with chocolate notes. We also purchased a bottle of the port.

The people there are an amazing part of the experience as well. They still had our thank you card we sent them after our engagement photos and talked to us all about the blog! The woman who was giving us the tasting spoke with us about Greece and how she studied wine there. It's a truly incredible place full of incredible wine and people. If you find yourself near the Massachusetts/New Hampshire boarder on the coast, stop by Jewell Towne Vineyards and you wont be disappointed!
