The Fix Burger Bar: Worcester, MA

It was a Friday night, and Derek and I were in the mood to go out and have some dinner and drinks. We live so close to Worcester, and always complain that we never go and take advantage of the food and drink scene there. We decided to give it a shot. Using Yelp and Four Square, we stumbled upon The Fix Burger Bar.

We found parking on the street outside of the The Fix and figured out when we got to the door that there is complimentary valet parking. When we walked into the restaurant we immediately liked the atmosphere. Large chalkboards lined the walls with chalk art, specials, and drinks on tap. Rustic wood table tops and simple lines gave the place a laid back, modern look.

We sat near the bar at the window. We had a friendly waiter who took our drink order. Derek ordered the Jack's Abbey House Larger and I had the Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin.

Our beers came, Derek's in a glass and mine in a Mason jar. Both beers were delicious with the first sip and beyond. The Ballast Point had just the tiniest taste of pineapple, and though I was hoping for a more dramatic taste, I liked it.

We put in our order. Derek ordered the Wicked Twisted Pretzel Bites and an order of French fries. I ordered The Spicy Tuna and added avocado which the waiter guessed before I even had the time to get the word "avocado" out. We sat back, sipped our beers and took in the atmosphere as we waited.

The food came out not even 10 minutes later. It was so fast. Both meals looked delicious. Derek's pretzel bites were slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They came with a very tangy, spicy mustard. The mustard was very hot, but good. The fries were delicious! They were hand cut, hot, and perfect.

The Spicy Tuna burger was out of this world. Two slabs of rare ahi tuna sat between two sesame buns with spicy kimchi, sesame chips, sriracha aioli, sweet soy and my added avocado. This burger is delicious and the texture is pleasing. The sesame chips gives a crunch to the burger that would otherwise be soft. It was the perfect texture addition to the ahi tuna. The tuna was seared perfectly, and the avocado was generous. The mix of the sriracha aioli and sweet soy created the sweet and spicy tanginess of the burger. The burger came with a side of those amazing fries.

The restraunt doesn't only do burgers. There are many apps, including some for only $5. In addition you can choose from salads and desserts. If you are having a burger you can pick from the long list of add on toppings, cheeses and sauces. You can even top it off with a milk shake. The Fix also offers a large cocktail list including a fix your own gin and topic or old fashioned.

This is a great place to grab a burger and drinks with your friends or your family. There were kids dining in the restaurant, and young adults drinking at the bar, making it an eclectic place to grab food and drinks. I highly recommend The Fix. There is something for everyone.
