Still & Stir: Worcester, MA
Our friends told us about Citizen Wine Bar last year and we went with them to find incredible food, extraordinary cocktails, and delicious chocolate. The second you walk in, you get the feel of a classic lounge style cocktail bar. We loved it so much that we keep coming back. One date night, we thanked the bartender for making us such great cocktails and he told us about the bar in the back of the building called Still & Stir.
On Friday night, we decided to check out Still & Stir. We were already in Worcester for dinner so we got to the bar pretty early around 7:00. The bar was full of Boston College fans waiting for the BC vs. Harvard at the DCU Center. Much to our surprise, people were drinking cheap bottles of beer and not the fabulous cocktails we were told about. We found a corner spot at the bar and took a look at the menu.
Right when you walk in, the setting makes you feel like you're in an old speakeasy. The bar is set in an old jail cell and when you couple that with the dim lights and the music, all of the commotion of the outside fades away.
We took a look at the menu which was very well laid out and split into each of the base spirits. I ordered an Old Fashioned and Britt ordered a drink called Maine & Maple. The drinks are truly craft cocktails. They use all fresh ingredients and hand made bitters. The bartenders definitely know their craft and it is great to watch them craft the cocktail.
The cocktails look amazing and taste even better. The Old Fashioned started sweet and balanced and the finish was silky smooth. The bourbon still came through and you could taste it throughout the experience. The Maine & Maple was incredible too. I usually do not like sweet drinks but this one was very balanced. It had a bourbon base, maple syrup, freshly crushed blueberries, topped off with champagne.
We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and headed back home. We definitely want to spend more time at the Still & Stir and enjoy more from their enticing cocktail menu.
